David M. Schachter
Mr. Schachter heads Reedland's investment banking group with respect to debt-based transactions and is a nationally recognized expert in advising client companies on corporate and commercial real estate debt transactions. Reedland Capital structures, arranges and negotiates senior credit facilities, mezzanine debt and bridge loans for both publicly traded and privately-held companies in most industries. Loan size typically ranges from $20 million to $200 million and proceeds can be used for growth capital, acquisitions or refinancing of existing debt on more favorable terms such as less onerous covenants, better pricing and/or greater availability. Mr. Schachter has established extensive relationships, both in the United States and abroad, with commercial banks, asset-based lenders, and cash flow-based lenders, many of which are non-traditional sources of capital that can provide more flexibility to companies from a pricing, structure and availability standpoint. With capital severely constrained today, Mr. Schachter and the other members of his group can be a valuable tool in restructuring a company's balance sheet to facilitate greater profitability.
Prior to joining Reedland upon its inception in early 1998, Mr. Schachter was a securities and financial institutions transactional attorney for over 12 years (initially with Pillsbury, Madison & Sutro and then as a partner at a boutique firm based in Los Angeles that specialized in representing financial institutions and broker-dealers). In that capacity, he developed extensive experience in negotiating various types of complex equity and debt financings, loan workouts as well as structuring and negotiating asset disposition transactions with the Resolution Trust Corporation.
Mr. Schachter received an M.B.A. degree in corporate finance from the University of San Diego School of Business, where he graduated magna cum laude and a JD degree from the University of San Diego School of Law where he graduated cum laude and was a member of the USD Law Review. Mr. Schachter is also a Series 24 General Securities Principal.
