 Robert K. Schacter
Mr. Schacter is a founder of the firm and brings with him over 20 years of investment banking and securities industry experience. Prior to forming Reedland in 1998, Mr. Schacter began his investment career in 1983 at Paine Webber, Inc., where he became one of the youngest satellite office managers in the firm's history, assisted with private placement transactions for a number of the country's pioneer biotechnology companies and traded those securities for his clients in the secondary market.
In 1986, Mr. Schacter joined Smith Barney, Harris Upham & Co. as Vice President of Retail Sales. Four years later, he joined Wharton Capital as Senior Vice President, where he was responsible for securing secondary debt and raising equity capital for oil and gas industry companies. In 1991, Mr. Schacter became Vice President of Sales at Lehman Brothers, where he was responsible for servicing and managing institutional bond accounts. Prior to forming Reedland in 1998, Rob was a Managing Director at Shoreline Pacific Institutional Finance, where he was responsible for originating and helping structure & negotiate more than $750 million in private equity financings for publicly-listed emerging growth companies. ^ Return to Top |

Thomas J. Griesel
Mr. Griesel is a co-founder of the firm and brings with him more than 30 years of experience in the securities industry and corporate financial operations. Tom is responsible for overseeing the firm’s daily operations and providing private placement advisory services to Reedland’s corporate and institutional clients.
Prior to founding Reedland Capital Partners with Mr. Schacter in 1998, Tom was Managing Director of private placements at Shoreline Pacific Institutional Finance, where together with Mr. Schacter, he was responsible for originating and structuring private equity offerings for publicly traded companies. Previously, Tom spent 20 years in various corporate operations positions at a large public utility company, providing him with a comprehensive understanding of the operations and financing needs of small to mid-sized companies. Tom is a registered securities principal.

David M. Schachter
Mr. Schachter heads Reedland's real estate investment banking group and is a nationally recognized expert in advising client companies on commercial real estate transactions. Over the past 25 years, he has developed extensive relationships with money center, regional and community banks, specialty commercial real estate lenders, and private equity firms throughout the United States and abroad, and has a proven track record in creating innovative solutions for refinancing existing projects, "broken" deals, and distressed debt scenarios for both publicly-traded and privately-held client companies.
Mr. Schachter and his team are acutely aware of the growing need during 2009 and 2010 for active, reasonably priced funding sources to refinance existing multifamily, commercial, industrial, retail and hospitality projects. In that regard, Reedland has amassed a large network of diverse lenders to provide such refinancing for quality projects that have solid sponsorship.
For the past several years, Mr. Schachter's focus has been primarily on real estate lending in the hospitality sector, and he is currently active in arranging construction, as well as bridge and permanent refinancing for various hospitality projects around the country. Mr. Schachter is frequently quoted in hospitality and real estate articles and publications, and has participated as a speaker and panelist at a number of hospitality and real estate conferences and seminars.
Prior to joining Reedland upon its inception in early 1998, Mr. Schachter was a securities and financial institutions transactional attorney for over 12 years (initially with Pillsbury, Madison & Sutro and then as a partner at a boutique firm based in Los Angeles that specialized in representing financial institutions and broker-dealers). In that capacity, he developed extensive experience in negotiating various types of loan workouts as well as structuring and negotiating asset disposition transactions with the Resolution Trust Corporation.
Mr. Schachter received an M.B.A. degree in corporate finance from the University of San Diego School of Business, where he graduated magna cum laude and a JD degree from the University of San Diego School of Law where he graduated cum laude and was a member of the USD Law Review.

 Sanford Zweifach
Mr. Zweifach joined Reedland in 2005 and heads our life sciences M&A/advisory efforts, bringing with him 15 years of proven experience in investment banking, investing, business development, mergers & acquisitions, and management.
Prior to joining Reedland, Sandy was CEO of Pathways Diagnostics, Inc., a biomarker development company. Previously, from 1997 to 2003, Sandy was CFO of Bay City Capital, a merchant bank specializing in the biotech/life science industry, where he was responsible for oversight of the firm's finance department as well as President of the firm's M&A and financing division. From 1995 to 1997 Sandy was President and CFO of Epoch Biosciences, which was acquired by Nanogen in 2004. Previously, Sandy was a Certified Public Accountant for Coopers & Lybrand and held various investment banking positions focusing on biotech. Mr. Zweifach received his BA in Biology from UC San Diego and holds an MS in Human Physiology from UC Davis.^ Return to Top |

 Matthew Geller, Ph.D.
Dr. Geller joined Reedland in 2008, bringing with him over 14 years of experience as a senior biotech analyst and healthcare investment banker. At Reedland, Dr. Geller's focus is on arranging private equity financing for life science companies.
From 2006-2008, Dr. Geller was head of healthcare banking at Rodman and Renshaw. Throughout this period, the group was consistently ranked #1 on the Street for PIPES and registered direct stock offerings. Dr. Geller was also responsible for M&A and advisory assignments for both public and private biotech companies.
From 1994-2005, Dr. Geller was Managing Director and Senior Biotechnology Analyst at Oppenheimer and CIBC World Markets. Dr. Geller was named one of the best stock-pickers in biotechnology in the Wall Street Journal's "Best on the Street Analysts Survey", was selected by Institutional Investor magazine as a member of its All-Star Home-Run Hitters research team, and has been a member of the publication's All-America Research team.
Dr. Geller is often quoted in industry and general press, including the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, and has made frequent television appearances on CNBC, Bloomberg television and CNN. Dr. Geller has also served as a consultant to venture capital firms, biotech companies and portfolio managers and analysts. Earlier in his career, Dr. Geller was a professor at U.C. Berkeley, the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor and Duke University, and published extensively.
A graduate of Yale University, from which he earned a bachelors degree with advanced standing in mathematics; Dr. Geller received a master's degree in mathematics from the University of California, San Diego and a Ph.D. in computer science from the University of California, Berkeley. Dr. Geller is fluent in French and German.

 Jason E. Cohen
Mr. Cohen joined Reedland Capital Partners in July of 1998. Previously, from 1995 until 1998, Jason was employed by Shoreline Pacific Institutional Finance of Sausalito, California as that firm’s Contracts Administrator. In this position, Jason facilitated the closing arrangements of over 50 private equity offerings, playing an instrumental role in the consummation of over $500 million of institutional investment in nationally-listed public companies, and working closely with the firm’s bankers, in-house legal counsel, client issuers, and investors. From 1991 through 1995, Jason was employed as a paralegal for a New York law firm specializing in bankruptcy/creditor rights, litigation and commercial law. Jason earned his undergraduate degree in Political Science from Colgate University in 1991.^ Return to Top |
